The mission of this full-time position is to safeguard our organization’s information systems and ensure compliance with the NY DFS 500 cybersecurity requirements. Your focus will be on implementing robust security controls, conducting risk assessments, and maintaining a secure environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

NY DFS 500 Compliance:

  • Understand and interpret the NY DFS 500 cybersecurity regulation (23 NYCRR Part 500).
  • Ensure that our organization complies with all relevant provisions of the regulation.
  • File annual certifications confirming compliance with the Cybersecurity Regulation.

Risk Assessment:

  • Conduct periodic risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and threats specific to our organization.
  • Design and implement risk mitigation strategies based on assessment findings.

Cybersecurity Program Development:

  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive cybersecurity program.
  • Develop and update policies, procedures, and guidelines to align with NY DFS requirements.
  • Implement technical security controls to protect our systems and data.

Access Management:

  • Manage access privileges for users, ensuring least privilege principles.
  • Monitor privileged access and implement Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions.

Incident Response and Reporting:

  • Create and maintain an audit trail for cybersecurity incidents.
  • Report incidents promptly to the appropriate authorities as required by NY DFS.

Security Awareness:

  • Promote cybersecurity awareness and training across the organization.
  • Educate employees on best practices and security hygiene.

Continuous Monitoring:

  • Continuously monitor and test the effectiveness of our cybersecurity program.
  • Implement security controls to protect against malicious code and unauthorized access.

  • Ability to be resourceful, organized, and proactive when managing multiple priorities at the same time, both independently and with a team.
  • Solid interpersonal skills & resourcefulness when handling stressful or confidential situations.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance.
  • Familiarity with NY DFS 500 regulations and their impact on financial services companies.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is in-office, in a business professional environment.
  • Standard 40-hour work week
  • Overtime hours and travel may be required.
